1. Basic Policy

School Prep Check (the "App") is an app that stores and uses user records on the device. No account registration is required, and user records are not stored on the operator's servers. The App does not collect information for the purpose of tracking user activity and does not include advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs.

2. Information Stored on the Device

The App stores the following information on the device. This information is entered or imported by the user and cannot be viewed by the operator.

Images and PDFs of imported school handouts, and text recognized on the device
Information set by the user, such as a child's name and grade
Items to bring, dates, check status, and notes
Reminder settings and plan status (such as the start date of a free trial)

3. Use of Device Features and Permissions

Camera: Used to photograph and import school handouts.
Photo Library: Used to import handouts from saved photos (the App handles only photos selected by the user).
Notifications: Used to schedule on-device reminders for items to bring and deadlines. Notification text may display part of a record stored on the device.

For each permission, the App asks for permission on an OS confirmation screen immediately before the user uses the relevant feature. If permission is not granted, the App can still be used without that feature. Permission can be revoked at any time in the device's Settings.

4. Communications (Information Sent Off the Device)

The App does not send information off the device except in the following cases.

App Store (Apple): Apple processes the retrieval of subscription product information and the purchase, restoration, and management of subscriptions. The operator may receive only transaction identifiers from Apple and does not receive names or payment information.
AI features (Section 5): Only when the user enables the feature and chooses to send the information.

5. AI Features (If Applicable)

The App includes a feature that uses AI to organize the contents of handouts (this feature may not be available depending on the build configuration). This feature operates only under the following conditions.

Information is sent only when the user chooses "Send" each time. It is not sent automatically.
Before sending, personal information such as a child's name is replaced (anonymized) on the device, and the user can review the information to be sent on screen.
Information is sent through a relay server managed by the operator to the AI service provider (OpenAI). The information is processed in accordance with the AI service provider's terms of use and privacy policy. The operator's relay server does not store the body of the information sent and retains only records such as processing counts.
AI output may be incorrect. Always check items to bring and dates against the original handout.

6. Purchase Information

Subscriptions (monthly and annual) are offered through Apple's App Store. Prices, billing, automatic renewal, cancellation, and refunds are governed by Apple's terms. Purchase status is stored on the device and can be restored from Apple's purchase history. Even after the paid feature period ends, records on the device are not deleted (they remain available for viewing and export).

7. Backup and Export

Users can export their records as a backup file. The backup is created with on-device encryption (AES-256-GCM), and the user chooses where to save it. Users are responsible for managing exported files.

8. Deletion

Users can delete all records on the device (handout images, text, items to bring, and settings) from "Delete all data" in Settings. Individual handouts and items can also be deleted.

Deleting the App from the device deletes all records stored on the device (except backup files exported by the user).

9. Retention Period

Records on the device are retained until the user deletes them. The operator does not retain user records. If a user contacts the operator, the contents of the inquiry (email address, message, and attachments) are retained for the period necessary to respond and are then deleted.

10. Provision to Third Parties

The operator does not sell or provide user records to third parties. Information is sent to the recipients described in Sections 4 and 5 (Apple and the AI service provider) only when the user uses the relevant feature.

11. Use by Children

The App is not designed or advertised for children. The operator does not collect information about children.

12. Changes

If this Policy is changed, the changes and their effective date will be shown in the App or on the public website. The operator will not silently add a new purpose for using information to an existing consent.
